The Reading FC Former Players’ Association are delighted to announce An Evening With Nicky Forster on Thursday 23 November 2023, at the Tilehurst British Legion Club.

HOSTED BY BBC RADIO BERKSHIRE AND FORMER READING FC WELSH INTERNATIONAL ADY WILLIAMS.

The event will give fans a unique opportunity to meet, and put questions to, former Reading FC striker Nicky Forster. After joining the Royals in June 1999 from Birmingham City Nicky made a total 215 appearances for Reading in all competitions, scoring 67 goals. The hugely popular Forster played a key role in Reading’s revival at a time the club were struggling in Division Two, playing both up front and out wide.

After Reading climbed the table in his first season at the club, we were defeated in the play-off final the following season before claiming promotion at the next attempt. Back in Division One, Reading went from strength to strength with Forster enjoying the best form of his career and scoring two league hattricks against Ipswich Town and Preston North End. Reading finished fourth to earn a play-off spot. It was Forster that put Reading ahead away at Wolves in our play-off semi final but Reading ultimately lost to Wolves over two legs.

The following season Forster continued to find the net with 9 goals in his first 18 games of the season before injury limited games later in the season. Nicky left on a free transfer to Ipswich in 2005 and went on to also play for Hull, Brighton, Charlton and Brentford.
