John Motson Sporting Dinner

The Chris Armstrong MS Therapy Centre Appeal

Penta Hotel, Oxford Road, Reading - Thursday, November 28th

Every year the Reading FC Former Players Association nominate a local charity to support.  This year, 2013/14, we are organising events to support the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre on the Oxford Road, Reading (www.bmstc.org)

The reason for our support is that of former Reading FC player, Chris Armstrong. Chris had to retire from the game when, at the age of 29 in 2010 he was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis.  Before moving back to his home City of Newcastle, he used the Oxygen tank at the MS Therapy Centre on Oxford Road to aid his recovery.

We have BBC Football commentator and personality, John Motson attending a Sporting Dinner.  This is a coup for our organisation as he does not normally undertake such an event.  But because of his 'fondness' of Reading FC; his friendship with Reading FC Chairman Sir John Madejski and because of the relationship of the charity to a former footballer, he has agreed.

The evening will be compered by former Reading and Wales international and current BBC Berkshire Sports pundit Ady Williams. He will be joined by Patron of both the FPA and of the MS Therapy Centre, Sir John Madejski.

Also attending as special guest is former Reading FC Manager Steve Coppell.  In addition, we have at least 10 former Reading players attending this very worthwhile event.

Tickets are priced at £45 each which includes a three course meal and are available by contacting Richard Wickson on 078 998 46664 or by email at richard@readingfcformerplayers.co.uk
